  1. Marriage

    1 year ago (Tue, Jun 15th, 2010)

So I’ve decided to start this blog for my friends and family that want to keep up with my life. I’m going to write about what I’m doing, what God is saying to me, and Karina-isms (as we’ve come to define them).

To start out with, this blog couldn’t have begun at a more appropriate time. My entire life is in transition with my new marriage! Jared and I have been married seven months yesterday. This first year of marriage has been so much fun, it’s unbelievable. I’ve had to learn to think of myself as an adult, although I still won’t actually refer to myself as one with “actual adults” in the room. It’s funny really, because the day I left my teenage years was the day I got engaged. It was so strange to think I’m no longer a teenager AND I’m getting married within the same year!

With this first year of marriage, we’ve had first trips together, first-time decorating/furnishing an apartment, first date nights at home, our first Christmas, first grocery trips, and first firmly established family nights, which BOTH take up BOTH weekend nights. =) Such is the life of a young, married “adult”!

One thing greatly unique that is less commonly associated with marriage is the ‘last’s. I remember my last drive home alone to my parent’s house, my last rushed breakfast at my parent’s house on my wedding day, and my last conversation with Jared before realizing I wouldn’t speak with him again until after we were back down the aisle. The last things are so much more sad than the first things, but they’re just as important not to forget. One thing about getting married was that I just kept thinking “Life will never be the same again” with both the happy and sad implications.

But marriage is a happy, happy thing. And my marriage is the happiest of the happy! I married my best friend so we could become partners in this life of loving Jesus wholeheartedly. It’s an adventure that never ends, and our prayer is that we never lose sight of that which matters most: to know Him and love Him!

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.” Ephesians 5:31-32
